Rising between the sea and the dunes of Apúlia Beach, these five centuries-old windmills are a symbol of the region's cultural heritage. They were originally built to harness the constant force of the Atlantic winds to grind cereals, mainly corn.
Today, although they are no longer in operation for milling, the windmills have been restored and many have been converted into summer homes or private holiday homes, maintaining their traditional architecture.
