Hiking

The fish ponds at Schloss Seehof serve primarily for fish farming. Carp, tench, pike, pike-perch and catfish roam about 100 hectares, which are pulled in the breeding house and then exposed in the ponds. Since the ponds were cultivated over many centuries, they were awarded in 2016 by the Teichgenossenschaft Oberfranken as a cultural asset.

Hiking

The first documentary mention found the Figurenweiher on the castle grounds in 1403, when a servant was sought as a "lake-waiting". The history of the ponds themselves goes back to the year 1122 in the diocese of Bamberg, when the pond economy was first mentioned. Background for the creation of fish ponds was that the clergy needed the fish as a fast food.
