The Schallenstein - a granite boulder measuring 95x65x40 cm - was discovered in 1869 near the upper Linde/Oberburg and dates back to pre-Christian times. The exact function of such stones is not known. Perhaps the six depressions, 16 centimeters in diameter and about 4 cm deep, were used to crush grain and nuts.
