A very striking church due to its location and painting.

The interior of the church has a sandstone reticulated vault with keystones decorated with weapons, figures and flower vines. The keystones in the choir bear the coats of arms of the counts of Virneburg, Manderscheid, Rodemacher and Schleiden1. The consoles of the wall half columns show busts of the twelve apostles.

"The origins of the founding of the church are obscure, but according to Ferdinand Pauly, it can be said that it was founded in the 11th century." A secure existence of the church comes from a document of 1327 concerning the acceptance of a Burgmann by Friedrich von Neuerburg.
A deed of 1341 mentions a synod that took place in the church. Another document from 1379 mentions a rector of the parish church. "
