La Table du Silence, created by Constantin Brâncuși in 1938, is one of the three major works on the sculptural route in Târgu Jiu.
Composed of a large stone disc surrounded by twelve trunk-like seats, it symbolizes a moment of reflection before the departure of Romanian soldiers to the front during World War I.
The site is freely accessible, located in a peaceful park where one immediately feels the meditative dimension intended by Brâncuși.
The circular shapes invite contemplation, and the perfect alignment with the Gate of the Kiss and the Endless Column gives the triptych its full meaning.
