Part of the lock includes a hydroelectric power plant, two lock chambers, a fish passage, and a weir. The weir creates a 10-meter difference in water level. From the Elbe Cycle Path below Schreckenstein, you can cross the lock to the other side, where you can also visit this waterworks. It is an important waterworks on the waterway to Hamburg. From Schreckenstein Castle, there is a good view of the Masaryk Lock. The interior of the lock is accessible during open days. It was built between 1924 and 1936.
