The Kahl experimental nuclear power plant (VAK for short, rarely RWE-1) was the first nuclear power plant in Germany. The plant was located near Kahl and was situated on the river Main. The plant was located in the municipality of Karlstein am Main and was completely dismantled by 2010. The Großwelzheim nuclear power plant was located directly next to the plant.
