The miner in this work, created by Liège sculptor Roger Lenertz, has a name: Henri. We know this because "miner Henri" was the father of Paul Bolland, who was provincial governor at the time of the unveiling in 2004 on his 65th birthday. Naturally, it must represent all the miners of Blegny, even if it's "miner Henri."

The La Pierre Mag monument is an expressive work of art on a roundabout not far from the historic Blegny mine. The sculpture symbolizes the "magical" black stone (coal) and shows the silhouette of a miner at work. As it is placed in the public street space, it reminds every passer-by in everyday life of the deep-rooted mining identity of the entire region.
