Evergreen Cemetery, owned by the City of Charlotte, was established in 1944. Interments began in 1947, and today it is the most active of Charlotte's municipal cemeteries, with over 100 graves. At the entrance, a large memorial honors Mecklenburg County soldiers who lost their lives in World War II.
