Between the villages of Ludwag and Würgau, hikers head towards a geographical highlight that only reveals its secrets on a second glance: the Heidenstein. At a proud 577 meters above sea level, it is the highest elevation in the entire municipality of Scheßlitz, even surpassing the famous Giechburg. But those looking for a wide view up here will be surprised. The summit of the Heidenstein is a “silent giant”: it lies completely hidden in the dense, rustic forest and offers no distant views whatsoever. Instead, it rewards the hiker with an almost mystical tranquility away from the well-trodden tourist paths.

Even if you don't think so, the Heidenstein at 577 meters is just as high as the Hohe Metze and thus the highest mountain in the Scheßlitz municipality.
Unlike from the Hohe Metze, however, you have no view at all. A hike is still worthwhile because of the surrounding trails.
