With the help of the strength test stones, it was checked whether the men were fit for the boat. The stones weigh 23 kg, 54 kg, 100 kg, and 154 kg. Anyone who could only lift 23 kg was considered a "weakling", 54 kg a "useful person" and was allowed on the boat. Anyone who lifted 100 kg was a "half-strongman", 154 kg a "complete strongman".
