The Castle Linden Tree:
A large-leaved linden tree approximately 450 to 500 years old. Its trunk is hollow, held together at a height of about three meters by steel cables. The trunk, which measures over 9 meters in circumference, supports three thick main branches. A plaque screwed to the tree provides further information: According to tradition, the linden tree was planted to commemorate the siege of Farnsburg Castle before the Battle of St. Jakob an der Birs (1444). Its age is uncertain, but dendrochronological analyses have revealed an age of approximately 500 years.
