It is covered with a large glass dome and is directly opposite the world-famous opera house, Teatro San Carlo. The gallery was built between 1887 and 1890 to plans by Emmanuele Rocco and Ernesto di Mauro and was part of the urban renewal that followed the cholera epidemic of 1884. The passage consists of two crossing arms covered with a barrel-shaped glass roof.
