Hiking
The Appel rises in the Donnersberg, the highest elevation of the Palatinate, and flows in a northerly direction. After a distance of almost 40 kilometers, it flows into what is later called "Apppelbach" near Bretzenheim. The entire catchment area of the Appelbach is about 175 square kilometers, while the water flows about 300 meters down.
