Nobel Square features life-size statues of four Nobel Peace Prize laureates: Albert Luthuli, Bishop Desmond Tutu, former President F.W. de Klerk, and former President Nelson Mandela.
They form the centerpiece of Nobel Square, which is dedicated to the four Nobel Peace Prize laureates of South Africa, all of whom played a role in our transition to democracy: Chief Albert Luthuli (former president of the African National Congress), Anglican Archbishop Emeritus (and world-renowned anti-apartheid activist) Desmond Tutu, F.W. de Klerk (the last apartheid president of South Africa), and the legendary Nelson Mandela, our first post-apartheid president.
