The Nibelungenbrücke in Linz is far more than just a connection between the city center and the Urfahr district – it is a structure with a deep, sometimes dark history and shapes the cityscape like hardly any other element. As early as the 15th century, there was a wooden bridge at this location, which was often destroyed by floods or ice drift. The current bridge, however, has a completely different origin. It was built between 1938 and 1940.
