Hiking

The castle was probably built in the 12th or early 13th century and was owned by the Bishopric of Passau from the 13th century. In the following centuries, it changed owners several times and was at times a Brandenburg enclave in Austria. After damage during the Thirty Years' War, the castle lost its importance and fell into disrepair. Since 1928, it has been owned by the municipality of Langenlois and was restored at the end of the 20th century.

Once, this artificially created reservoir was an extremely popular bathing paradise. People traveled from afar to bathe in "Kronsegg". Romantic summer solstice celebrations and even "hot" motorsport events on the ice are now only remembered by a few. After the last dam renovation, the basin could be refilled starting in early 2002. The flood in August 2002 already forced the dam to pass its first test.
