Kegaska village is built on a point of land between two bays, Muddy Bay to the west and Kegaska Bay to the east. The bays and coves around the Kegaska River mouth are home to seagrass beds and salt marshes that support a rich diversity of wildlife, and the sandy beaches are well known for bird and marine mammal watching, as well as soft-shell clam harvesting. Eider ducks, black ducks, and seabirds nest here in significant numbers, and the bay forms an excellent natural harbour for small vessels.
