The Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen are Europe's largest waterfall. The water of the Rhine crashes in white spray over rocks and thunders into the lowlands. The view from the safe paths around shows a steaming, splashing cloud of spray, while the water rushes streamlined through the gorge. The air is cool and damp, the sound loud and powerful – an impressive natural spectacle that conveys strength and tranquility at the same time. Circular paths, stairs, and viewing platforms offer different perspectives of the falling water.
