The sculpture "Sphaera" by the sculptor Stephan Balkenhol on Kapitelplatz is around 9 meters high including the base. It shows a male figure standing calmly on a large gold sphere. Over a period of 10 years from 2002 to 2011, a unique course of originally 12 sculptures was created in the heart of the World Heritage City of Salzburg. The now 14 sculptures by internationally renowned artists of the "Walk of Modern Art" lead to the most beautiful places in Salzburg and to places in the middle of the city that are rather hidden. The works of art are within walking distance and freely accessible to all art lovers.

International contemporary art in the heart of Salzburg's old town and freely accessible to everyone: With the "Walk of Modern Art", the Salzburg Foundation has taken on a pioneering role in terms of art in public space. The 14 works belong today to the Würth collection. The artists were allowed to choose themselves, where their artwork should be in the city.
