Steep!!!

Highlight • Bridge

Lots of short steep hump bridges on the canal but this one is a zinger!

If you like bridges, this is a great section of the Grand Union Canal for you. Two train crossings and a large road crossing that usually houses some colourful house boats. Also a great spot to stop for shelter in an unplanned shower.

🇩🇪 Wide enough for a bike. When there is oncoming traffic, someone has to go into the hedges.

Paddington Branch Towpath

Highlight • Cycleway

Nice narrow path along the channel. Be a bit careful with other people walking and cycling here.

w3w.co/medium.racing.organs. Kensal Green is the oldest (1839) and historically most prestigious of the magnificent seven with a few minor royals buried here. It was immortalised in GK Chesterton's poem "The Rolling English Road": "For there is good news yet to hear and fine things to be seen; Before we go to Paradise by way of Kensal Green." Sir Charles Babbage, Sir Terence Rattigan, Charles Blondon, Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Wilkie Collins are amongst those buried here and there is a memorial to Freddie Mercury too. Open 0900-1700. Not sure if cycling is allowed inside formally but I went for a spin.
