Waldschwimmbad Büchen Mural

Highlight • Monument

The transformer station at the intersection of Möllner Straße and Heideweg in Büchen attracts attention. A lively and cheerful scene refers to the nearby forest swimming pool in Büchen. What is special: the bathers are a whole flock of small animals that have gathered there for a happy outing. Geese, storks, beavers and many more meet there, laden with picnic baskets, beach towels, handcarts and swimming rings. The facade painting, which spans all four walls, is a commissioned work by the company art-EFX, which has already individually worked on a large number of gray facades.

The company art-EFX from Potsdam carries out artistic facade designs for exterior and interior areas as commissioned work.

St. John's Church, Siebeneichen

Highlight • Religious Site

An Eberhardt von Seueneken was already mentioned in 1211. The village itself was first mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register from 1230. At that time the first church was built, which was demolished in 1749 as dilapidated. The patron Johann Hartwig Ernst von Bernstorff, owner of Gut Wotersen, had a new church built in 1753, in which he was buried in 1772.

With the construction of the Stecknitz-Delvenau Canal, the “wet salt road” between Lüneburg and Lübeck, which was completed in 1398, Siebeneichen became the point of contact for the Stecknitz drivers. There is still a seating reserved for this boatmen's guild in the Siebeneichen church.

The origin of the place name is not clearly proven, it could have its origin from the oaks in the old village square in front of the church, because there used to be exactly seven oaks, but it is also possible that the name comes from seven farming positions.
