Highlight • Climb

Steep via ferrata, but easily doable without snow. Only a short section, about 50 meters.

View of Bobotov Kuk

Highlight • Viewpoint

From here you can already see Bobotov Kuk. It is easy to see that before the summit it becomes steep and strenuous. Up to this point the path is quite normal, but that will soon change.

Plateau Below Bobotov Kuk

Highlight • Viewpoint

Great plateau. Beautiful views, mountain goats, clear jezeros and spectacular rock formation. Climbing to the top of Bobotov Kuk is no obstacle for experienced and well-equipped hikers. For casual hikers it can be challenging, both physically and mentally. Those who do not dare to climb the summit should not be deterred from climbing this plateau. Worth it!

We left at 8:30 am and were among the first on the section. As a result, we escaped the traffic. The route is a bottleneck, well secured, but offers little space for oncoming hikers. Surefootedness, trust and concentration are required. If you already have problems getting in via the Sedlo, you should avoid this section.

Here you can take a short break to enjoy the great view of the lake and the surrounding area. Then comes the final push to the summit, where you have to climb.

Final Ascent to Bobotov Kuk Summit

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

The final section of the climb to the summit is a technical scramble.
Good sturdy footwear required.
There are excellent hand and foot holds all the way up. A cable is in place to help for the last 20 - 30m.
No specialist equipment is required, you just need a good head for heights.

The summit is wide but there are steep drops on every side.

Start early to avoid the crowds on the top and heat in the summer.

Don't be surprised if a dog follows you to the top! That happened to us and once on the top we found another dog asleep up there!

Bobotov Kuk Summit (2,523 m)

Highlight • Summit

After the strenuous hike to the summit, you can enjoy the wonderful view and chat with other tourists. The last 200-300 meters are steep and you have to climb before you reach the summit. The path is secured with ropes in some places. You don't need any special equipment, but a helmet is really recommended because stones and other objects fall from above. There may be a lot of people here and there may be queues.

Definitely not a lonely summit! Nice tour. It had rained the evening before and the last stretch to the summit was a bit slippery in places where the sun was not yet.

Just below the Sedlo parking lot there is a small hut where you can buy soft drinks and snacks 👌

Today we climbed to the roof of Montenegro.
According to Rother, a 'top tour'...and it did everything Rother promised👌
So top on the top

The Durmitor is already top notch....I'm still pretty excited about this fantastic day.....and of course the weather played its part

It's best to start early in the morning and return the same way to the exit. We wanted to run differently and then had to go back to the start. But the last 2.5 km were taken 😌

Even without high alpine climbing experience, a hike around Montenegro's highest peak is worthwhile: we saved ourselves the last 800 meters to the top of the mountain, as this would have involved quite a bit of climbing. We enjoyed lush meadows and beautiful views.
