President Tree

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Giant Sequoia known as "President" in Sequoia National Park is one of the largest trees in the world. Named after President Warren G. Harding in 1923, it is thought to be around 3,200 years old. Recent measurements show it has a total volume of 1,530 to 1,540 cubic meters, making it the second-largest tree by volume after the General Sherman tree. Despite a dead top from a lightning strike, the President flaunts the largest crown of any Giant Sequoia, with an estimated 2 billion leaves. It continues to grow quickly even at its ancient age. Nearby are other huge sequoias, including Chief Sequoyah and the Congress Group.

General Sherman Tree

Highlight • Natural Monument

The largest or oldest of the Sequoias. Unfortunately too touristy and very relocated. Still worth seeing and worth a visit.
