Selke Cycle Path at the Gatersleben Weir

Highlight • Cycleway

The access from the opposite side of the Selke is nicer than from the paved cycle path...

This old, listed mausoleum, which served as a burial place for the Counts of Asseburg-Falkenstein, is located on the outskirts of Meisdorf, right on the hiking trail. A number of information boards tell the story and there is also a stamp station for the Harz hiking badge (HWN 207) here.

Beautiful and well-kept castle park that invites you to take a walk and offers a number of other highlights around it. There is also the Ballenstedt Castle there, as well as the Rosenburg and the Gegensteine nearby.

To call the highlight "Harz", when Quedlinburg is meant, is a bit misleading.

Today, in perfect weather, I took a lovely ride. Past Lake Ditfurt to Wedderstedt, continuing along the Selke River to Reinstedt. From Ermsleben, then via Konradsburg Castle, I headed back home. A few good new bike paths have emerged along the way, making for great cycling.

We left Quedlinburg at 8 a.m. in perfect weather, passing the Schlossberg with Quedlinburg Castle and countless half-timbered houses.
