Balduinstein Castle

Highlight • Castle

Perfect start or end point of a bike tour through the romantic Lahn Valley! With the support of the Lahntalbahn (bicycles are free of charge), which runs almost parallel to the cycle path from the source to the mouth, longer one-way tours can also be realized here.

Balduinstein

Highlight • Settlement

A great place with lots of little details to discover. Just keep your eyes open. There is also really delicious ice cream on the banks of the Lahn.

The Lahnhöhenweg is a beautiful path through the forest that grows on the Lahn slopes. The Lahn repeatedly squints through the trees.

Schaumburg Castle

Highlight • Castle

An absolute eye-catcher and the castle is being restored so we can hope for a reopening to the public.

Basalt Cliff Below Schaumburg Castle

Highlight • Natural Monument

The former castle and later Schauburg castle is built on a mountain made of basalt stone. At the edge of the path, a little below the castle, you can see the texture of the rock on this balt wall.

September 22, 2024,Schloss Schaumburg – Balduinstein Runde von Balduinstein
The meteorologists had decided on the last day of summer, so we went hiking again. A nice, relaxed walk near Balduinstein, a good stretch along the Lahn hiking trail at the beginning - even though the Lahn was only very rarely visible through gaps between the trees.

Three stars for this tour. Unfortunately, Schaumburg Castle is currently closed due to renovations. But there are a few things planned, such as a café, museum, and the establishment of a wine trading center. The Balduinstein Castle ruins are also unfortunately closed. The Franzosenlay lookout point is very beautiful. Today's tour was not very busy. Unfortunately, we didn't find any …

A trip with the "Girls on Tour". Actually planned for Saturday, but due to the weather forecast 🌧 we rescheduled to Sunday ☀️. That was good.
A nice and not very strenuous way. The rain of the last few days has done the forest good, it looked "green" again.
The Schaumburg is closed until further notice for renovation work, but …

Beginner's mistake - cell phone battery level: 3/4 ... 🤦🏼‍♀️ The way from the Schaumburg back to Balduinstein is self-explanatory 👌

The tour starts at the end of Birlenbach, diagonally across from the cemetery is a parking lot for hikers. It goes along the Lahnhöhen / hiking trail through the forest on a narrow path above the Lahn to the Franzosenley lookout point. From there a forest gravel path downhill to Balduinstein. In Balduinstein the old castle ruins and an old …
