Askitario Monastery and Old Olive Mill

Near the cemetery church Askitariou lies the monastery abandoned in 1930, which, like so many, was dedicated to Corfu the Almighty. It was first mentioned in documents in 1371, most of the surviving parts date back to 1790.
In the basement of the cellar is still an old olive oil press.

One of the most beautiful hikes in Corfu! Very good to walk, in spring it blooms everywhere, the Judas trees break the green.
Anyone who thinks there is a bridge over the small stream is wrong. You have to go through it. There are small cascades with pools filled with ice cold clear water, fish, frogs and newts.
