Bärenbrunnerhof

Highlight • Restaurant

The Bärenbrunnerhof used to be a monastery property of the Klingenmünster Abbey. The name Bärenbrunnerhof arose from the village of "St. Bernhardsbrunn" in the valley, which perished in the Thirty Years' War. In 2004 the farm was converted to organic farming. The farm with all its animals can be viewed up close and fresh organic food can be purchased in the adjacent farm shop.

The gigantic view alone makes it worth climbing up the ladder (and down again, of course).

After climbing an iron ladder, hikers are rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the Hauenstein rock formations and the town of Hauenstein itself. Even a light backpack makes the ascent possible.

Beautiful rock formation. Looks like a mushroom. From here you can see the Stephans Towers.

Less than a kilometer from the natural monument Dicke Eiche, lies the hikers' lodge of the same name. Here you can stop for a short break, enjoying a white cheese (Quark) with potatoes and a nice Weissherbst-Schorle.

Honigfels Rock Formation

Highlight • Natural Monument

There are some of the most difficult climbing routes on the Honigfelsen. No wonder when you see the absolutely spectacular rock like this. But you can also easily walk up the mountain from above to the gap between the isolated tower and the rock massif. With two sensational viewpoints over the Honig and the Bärenbrunner Hof to the Grosser Eyberg near Dahn.

June 8, 2025,Hauenstein > Wanderheim Dicke Eiche > Bärenbrunnerhof
Our hike on Sunday yielded several unexpected surprises. We started in Hauenstein and hiked up to the Lanzenfahrter Felsen (Lanzenfahrt Rock). A ladder leads to the rocky plateau, from which you have a beautiful view of Hauenstein and the surrounding area. (By leaning your upper body slightly forward, you can climb the ladder, which is surrounded by a grate, with …

We were out and about in the Palatinate Forest despite the bad weather forecast. The start and finish was at the Bärenbrunnerhof organic farm (near Oberschlettenbach). Despite the rain the days before and in the morning, the paths were really easy to walk, as you can see in the pictures. It goes steeply (but doable) up towards Hühnerstein. Once you …

Over the Pentecost weekend, we undertook one of my favorite hikes near Hauenstein. We started at the forest swimming pool and walked to the "Dicke Eiche" hikers' lodge.

Along the way, there are several spectacular rocks to admire.
You reach the Lanzenfahrter Felsen via a ladder, and from its plateau, you have a great view of Hauenstein and the surrounding …

So we did the "porcini mushroom" hike, too, although not under blue skies and 🌞. But we weren't sad. It was fantastic to see the ☁️🌫 in, out, around, and above the mountains, and to watch us from the rocks.
The rock formations are breathtaking. Everywhere, the fresh spring green spots on the tree branches between the roots of the …

I found the tour in Hegefire's feed. Unfortunately, it wasn't planned here yet. It was pretty easy with Komoot, though... I selected the starting point and entered all the rocks one by one.

A nice tour, with the PWV hut "Dicke Eiche" (open Friday-Sunday only) in the middle.

This tour begins at the Hauenstein swimming pool. I take the right path. Between the various rock formations, you walk through the beautiful forest. The path is repeatedly lined with fantastic rock formations. I highly recommend this tour.

Once again in the Palatinate Forest 😁.... and this time with lots of beautiful rocks, 2 of which you can even climb with ladders 👍.
And at the end of the tour you can have a wonderful rest in the beer garden of the Bärenbrunner Hof 😉
