Frau Gorges

If you are approaching the gorge from Fougax-et-Barrineuf, once you're in it expect a very tough hour of hike-a-bike. It's hard work but worth persevering because it's an incredible experience and the plateau when you finally reach Comus is stunning.

If you are approaching the gorge from Comus, do not be fooled by the approach (which is on a lovely stretch of wide double track). Once you enter the gorge it is very technical, there are sections which are very steep and strewn with large rocks and there are spots where rock falls have all but made the route impassable.

Gorges de la Frau

Gorges de la Frau is a narrow canyon that stretches for three kilometers. This protected natural space is formed by the erosion of the Èrç river on the rock. The canyon has a depth of between 300 and 400 meters and has for centuries been a passage between the Pyrenean valleys.
