Mill Gate, Tribsees

Highlight • Historical Site

The mill gate, also Stralsunder gate, in Tribsees is one of the two remaining gates of the weir plant, which surrounded the city. The Gothic three-storey brick gate from the 13th century was built on a fieldstone base and secured the road to Stralsund. It has several striking plaster covers. The usually richer decorated field side has several ogival apertures and a staggered gable. This is framed by a plaster band and decorated with pointed arch and Eckfialen.
The city side is simpler designed. It has a centered, on both upper floors reaching walled depression with a small window in the middle. In the gable are two round-arched hatches and a final unplastered round arch.

St. Thomas Church, Tribsees

Highlight • Religious Site

The Gothic three-aisled hall church, built around 1320, characterizes the cityscape. Wars, devastating fires and different streams of faith changed the inner and outer appearance of the church. Neo-Gothic reconstruction from 1861 - 1869. A valuable mill altar from the second quarter of the 15th century has been preserved. It is the only sculptural representation of a Eucharistic mill. The cultural-historical inventory includes the Lübeck pulpit (1577), a Baroque crucifixion group (1710), the depiction of the Last Judgment on a wooden epitaph, the Luther picture and an altarpiece "Christ and Thomas" (1869). The Buchholz organ dates from 1831. The oldest bell was cast in 1485.

Steintor Tribsees

Highlight • Monument

The stone gate, also known as the Grimmen gate, in Tribsees is one of the two remaining gates of the fortifications that surrounded the city. The Gothic three-storey brick gate from the 13th century was built on a field stone base and secured the road to Grimmen.
The gate has an ogival passage. The gate has little decoration, so plaster panels are completely missing. On the field side, the upper floors are separated by plaster strips. Atypically, the city side is more ornate. On the upper floor there are lined-up arched panels, some with windows, as well as under the gable with corner pinnacles. The city side is adorned by blind arcades and a staggered lunette gable with pinnacles. There are four windows arranged one above the other. At the southeast corner (left side of the field) there is a buttress placed over a corner with the year 1732.
The gate was badly damaged during a fire in 1702. During construction, some major changes were made to the tower. The local history museum is housed in the gate today.

Former Tribsees Post Office

Highlight • Historical Site

Here stands the former post office of Tribsees from the 19th century.

The two-storey historicist house with the baroque gable projection on the side has a facade typical of the Wilhelminian period with a base in rusticated plaster and a clinker-clad upper floor. The dormer windows suggest a Swiss architectural style. It was built for the imperial post office in the style of the post offices of the Reichspostamt at the time.

As part of the model town's urban development funding, the house was renovated at the end of the 1990s.

The street "Vor dem Steintor" refers to the area directly outside (in front of) the gate, i.e., the historic suburb in the direction of Grimmen. Several listed historic buildings are located there, including: the former Tribsees post office (Vor dem Steintor 5), a villa (Vor dem Steintor 6), a villa (Vor dem Steintor 4), and a school (Vor dem Steintor 4).

Remains of the town wall (Ostmauerstraße)

Highlight • Historical Site

Only sparse remains or foundations of the actual city wall exist; street names such as Ostmauerstraße and Westmauerstraße recall its former course.
