The Dobratsch transmitter tower is a 167 meter high tower for VHF and television on the mountain Dobratsch at an altitude of approx. 2115 m. The internal name is KLAGENFURT1 and it was built in 1971. The tower has its own cable car (not open to the public) and is also one of the strongest transmitters in Austria.

The tower shares the summit with the subtly older highest church in Europe and the summit house of the DAV.

Chamois and summit view

Highlight • Viewpoint

From the viewing platform you have a great view of the wide Carinthian region and on to Slovenia. With a bit of luck, you might even catch a glimpse of chamois or one or two eagles gliding through the air.

The Jägersteig is an easy alpine climb. Nevertheless, you should be sure-footed and not afraid of heights, as there are some exposed areas with a risk of falling. If you are attentive and walk with the appropriate caution, the path is an absolute must on the Dobratsch. The view of the Gailtal, the Carnic Main Ridge, the Karawanken and the Julian Alps is magnificent.
