Verulamium Park consists of 100 acres (40 hectares) of beautiful parkland close to the centre of St Albans. It hosts a load of facilities and also holds Roman architectural remains by way of the old city walls and the outline of London Gate. This is the Westiminster Lodge entrance, and there is car parking nearby.

Alban Way Railway Bridge

Highlight • Monument

The Alban Way is a cycle path in Hertfordshire, England, that has been constructed along the route of the former Hatfield to St Albans railway line. It runs from St Albans, close to St Albans Abbey railway station and the site of Roman Verulamium, through Fleetville and Smallford to Hatfield, ending close to Hatfield railway station. It is 7.5 miles (12.1 km) long.

Part of National Cycle Network route 61, which runs from the River Thames at Maidenhead to the River Lea in Ware, the Alban Way is fully tarmacked throughout making it usable all year round. The section from Welwyn Garden City to Ware is called the Cole Green Way.

Sherrardspark Wood Nature Reserve

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A bridleway from Welwyn Garden town centre out towards Ayot Green through Sherrardspark Wood. The surface can get a little muddy in the winter so a gravel or cx bike would be recommended but in the drier months a touring bike would be fine. When you exit the woods by the Red Lion pub you can link up with the Ayot Greenway cycle path via a short quiet road stint through Ayot Green, this then takes you all the way to Wheathampstead
