Hallstatt Lake

Highlight • Lake

Lake with wonderful clear water, the world famous Hallstatt and a great bike path along the eastern shore.

The eastern shore path of Lake Hallstatt is perfectly developed and mostly follows the railway line from Bad Goisern to Obertraun. In several places you have direct access to the lake for swimming.

Tricky passages are mitigated by complex structural bridge constructions. Cyclists and hikers share these routes. Therefore, mutual consideration is the top priority. If the cyclist gets off and pushes at the train stops, as instructed by the signs, the conductor may expressly praise him. The tourists from the Far East who got off the carriages thanked them with a photo of the "exotic" biker.

Along the rugged rocks only an artificial footbridge and a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists lead further along the lake.

Lake Hallstatt

Highlight • Lake

Hallstatt is an alpine village that is well worth seeing. Also due to its location between the lake and the steep mountain. Apparently, a lot of people from all nations also find that beautiful. Since there are hardly any parking spaces after 10 a.m., we lead to Obertraun and then by bike to Hallstatt.

March 12, 2024,Hallstätter See Regenrunde
A round of Altaussee/Ewige Wand/Bad Goisern/Hallstätter See was actually planned today. Due to the heavy rain, we rescheduled and only did one lap around Lake Hallstatt.

However, God had mercy and the nicer way back, over the east bank, was almost rain-free 😊

Details about the tour, as always commented in the photos.

Despite Corona, temperatures around 11 degrees and the low season there are still many tourists in Hallstatt (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

That was a great round with a few nice climbs...
Unfortunately, part of the route goes along the road 😏🫣
Not so great....

A fabulous bike tour from Bad Goisern via Au and Obertraun to the world heritage and most beautiful village in the world. The salt village of Hallstatt on Lake Hallstatt with its closely nested wooden gabled houses nestles up against the rocks, some of which rise steeply. Little space and nevertheless, or precisely because of this, an architectural building construct …

This morning, looking out of the window:
Everything was wet 😢 and there was a massive cloud cover.
But fortunately it stayed dry and without the sun the temperatures were bearable.😜
The day began with a train ride to Bad Goisern, where our hotel was.

Starting from the Hanuschhof, a nice round trip around Lake Hallstatt, first the R2 to Obertraun, then through Hallstatt back on the road to Bad Goisern

Plans change 🤷‍♀️ and after another ascent to the Dachstein was not possible, spontaneously to a lake. After all, there was sunshine again today ☀️. Not knowing where the 'landing' took place, it went super idyllic and quiet along the beautiful lake 🚵‍♀️. Again and again small places that invited to swim. In Hallstatt then the plan to hike up …

A nice loop if you like it. 😆
On the river bank opposite Hallstadt, the path is sometimes very difficult and sometimes a bit narrow. Unfortunately, on the other side, you have to ride on the road. And then, of course, Hallstatt...you can't ride here, you have to push. The town is full of tourists but certainly worth seeing. Obertraun …
