Forest Pavilion in Naturpark Bergisches Land

Highlight • Structure

Unfortunately, the many unsigned, very steep and slippery mountain bike routes recommended here can spoil the fun. Only go with good hiking boots, poles, fitness and good weather.

March 15, 2025,🌲🌲Zwischen Küstenmammutbäumen – Mammutbaumwald Runde von Küllenhahn🌲🌲
After running various errands in Wuppertal-Elberfeld, I took a walk in the Burgholz State Forest! Having been there several times by bike, this time I decided to explore it more closely on foot! The Burgholz Arboretum is home to various giant sequoias, including redwoods, which can grow up to 115 meters tall in California and live for over 2,000 years …

A nice little loop to the giant sequoia trees near Wuppertal. The route has a few steep sections.

As always, slightly disappointed with the tour. A lot of asphalt, the motorway is often very loud 😕. The arboretum is not described at all, identifying and finding the trees is very difficult. So if you want to hike there, you should work out your own route, away from roads and wide paths.

Hey everyone...after a relaxing holiday with lots of food and drink (and Netflix on the couch), it was time for some exercise today. A short route to Wuppertal to the Burgholz Arboretum. A nice loop with good weather and few people around...more bikers than hikers...up and down a healthy mix...pure relaxation...👍👍👍👍👍😎🤘🍺

Funny names and descriptions... Küllenhahn and coastal redwoods, even though the only "coast" is the nearby Wupper River. A wonderful tour in the Easter sunshine with the increasingly green growth of the very beautiful forest. 😍
