Rolderdingspel is an old area in central Drenthe. The ding game (also known as the ding pill) previously included the Christmas games Assen, Rolde, Grollo and Schoonlo. The remaining area is agricultural area with mixed farms and a relatively large amount of livestock farming.
In the west, the Amelterbosch merges with the buildings of the eastern districts of Assen, east of the railway line.
