The construction dates back to the sixteenth century and is the result of renovations and expansions of a previous church, which dates back to the 12th-13th centuries, as evidenced by the frescoes inside. The first records date back to 1390. The building was destroyed by the Turks towards the end of the 15th century and was immediately rebuilt. After the Friuli earthquake of 1976, the church was completely renovated, maintaining the architectural forms of the 16th century.
