Peace Chapel, Malbun

Highlight • Religious Site

Malbun Peace Chapel
The highest church in the country was built in 1950/51 and was planned by the painter and architect Johannes Hugentobler, Appenzell. The simple, brick building blends in perfectly with the mountain backdrop of the Ochsenkopf massif behind it and blends in perfectly with the landscape. Hugentobler also created the colorful round choir window. Another special feature is the mosaic created by Prof. Josef Seger in 1962, a pictorial representation of the "Sennen-Ave".

Ochsenkopf Summit

Highlight • Summit

The rarely visited Ochsenkopf is located directly on the border between Liechtenstein & Austria / Vorarlberg. West the mountains around Malbun & Co, east of the Nenzinger sky with its dream peaks, like Panüeler- & Fundl-Kopf.

TraumPanorama.

According to summit book in the first half of 2017 only 6 entries - that should be enough for a while ;-)

Ochsenkopf Summit

Highlight • Summit

An absolutely great summit destination with super beautiful views for mountain experienced people!

The path is demanding and leads over scree / gravel-like, rocky-crumbly ground with a lot of scrambling and in between a relaxed section over a green area. The route is not signposted and is continuously and freshly marked with yellow dots. At one point I followed the path that was marked on the map and not the yellow dots ... that was not a good idea, so just always follow the yellow dots. Surefootedness, a head for heights and dry conditions are a must for this trail!

I love scrambling and rocky terrain and there are heaps of both at the mighty "stone block", the Ochsenkopf 😍, but also a lot of loose rock and crumbly rocks and rubble, which requires experience and caution and made me sweat a bit personally in the meantime 😅 ( Rubble is something that I don't like and I quickly get insecure), but it was a super brilliant tour!
