Brückenborn, Taubenborn, and Glockenborn Wells

Highlight • Natural Monument

Three springs or fountains can be discovered at the entrance to Weiterode. The best-known is the "Brückenborn" directly in front of the tunnel. Since 1991 a spring that has been treated as a fountain with a small rest area. Only about 200 meters to the east, a few steps lead down to the "Taubenborn", which was first recorded in 1925 and renewed in 1995. It is also called "Kätters Börnchen". And on the other side of the L 3251 country road at a tarred entrance in the direction of the Auewiesen is the "Glockenborn". Its name is reminiscent of the legend of the bell of the White Church of the deserted town of Rudolferode, which was sunk here in the formerly swampy reed meadows during the Thirty Years' War.
