National Cycle Network Route 12 to Sandy

Highlight • Trail

Traffic free NCN route through the countryside, very easy riding.

This off-road cycling and walking route is on part of the now disused Varsity railway line that ran between Oxford and Cambridge. The section between Bedford and Sandy also forms part of the National Cycle Network Route 51 and its a relatively flat easy ride that can be completed comfortably in less than an hour.

The path here is great for riding but many walkers and dog walkers. The Danish Camp was shut down due to Covid when I went through last time but looking forward to going back again when it is back up and running again.

This outstanding 16th-century building is a National Trust owned property once used as a dovecote and stables.

St Lawrence's Church, Willington

Highlight • Religious Site

"The church of St Lawrence in Willington is situated to the west of the village, close by the National Trust properties of the Willington Dovecote and Stables. Limited parking is available by the roadside outside the church or in the Dovecote car park."

It's a very nice place. I enjoyed relaxing and taking a portion of peace of mind.
