Enjoy scenes of the lush green valley carved by the winding Dovedale Beck, surrounded by rolling hills and craggy peaks.

Hartsop Above How

Highlight • Viewpoint

Hartsop Above How is a Wainwright fell that is connected to Hart Crag by some undulating (and sometimes boggy) ground. It can also be hiked from Bridgend and offers wonderful views over the Deepdale valley. I particularly like the view from here to the broad bulk of St Sunday Crag, which looks absolutely huge!

View from Gale Crag

Highlight • Summit

The path to Gale Crag from Bridgend is a well trodden path and mostly follows the drystone wall up, so navigation is made easier should the cloud come down. Boggy in places (early summer). It's also steep in places but undulating. There is a short scrambling section on this route, but the views are still lovely if you turn around here. This is a good path for someone who wants to enjoy the fell experience without any head swimming drop-offs (like me!😁). For those who fancy a bit more of a challenge, this Crag is just one summit leading on to many others.

Shoreline of Brothers Water

Highlight • Viewpoint

There is a footpath on both sides of Brothers Water & you can access the shoreline on both, but the west shore is where the main path is and has the best access. Here, you can access the beautiful shoreline from the main path, walk along, and then back to the path. It is possible to climb up the bank back to the main path in places, but this is more technical and is not an official path.

Brothers Water

Highlight • Viewpoint

Tucked quietly between the Eastern and Far Eastern Fells of the Lake District, at the northern foot of the Kirkstone Pass, is Brothers Water. This small lake is surrounded by green Wainwright fells, grazing herdwicks and simply gorgeous scenery.

Nearby Sykeside has a variety of accommodation options, whilst refreshment awaits at the Brotherswater Inn. The small village of Hartsop is also a good base for many adventurous hikes in the fells.
