St. Leonhard's Spring

Highlight • Natural Monument

You can fill up the water yourself. It comes from an artesian spring. It's a shame that all the springs here have drifted into the esoteric camp.

During our hike we couldn't stop because the Waldgasthof was closed due to company holidays.

St. Leonhard Church in Leonhardspfunzen

Highlight • Religious Site

Leonhardspfunzen is a branch municipality of Zaisering. It is located on the edge of the moraine range east of the Inn. The place name is derived from the Roman Pons Aeni, which means that there used to be a bridge over the Inn here.
The first stone church was built in the late Romanesque period, at the end of the 12th to the beginning of the 13th century. The exceptionally strong nave walls have been preserved from this building. Around the middle of the 15th century, a late Gothic choir was added to this old nave and the nave was vaulted onto it. The tower also dates from this period. In the course of time some changes and extensions were made. Around 1733 the interior of the church was redesigned in Baroque style. There was a danger for the church in secularization: The Aiblinger district judge gave the order to block and demolish the "superfluous" church. Thank goodness this was not put into practice.
In 1982 the church was extensively renovated. The many visitors to the little church are always impressed by the light, cheerful atmosphere.
