The Roman Catholic, listed parish church of the Assumption of Mary is located on the market square in Breitenbrunn.
The choir tower of the hall church dates from the 13th century. The late baroque nave was added to it to the west in 1716/17. The square choir tower was added an octagonal floor in 1726, which houses the tower clock and the belfry with four cast steel bells cast in 1922 and is covered with a double-story tent roof. The façade with three axes in the west of the nave is structured with Tuscan pilasters; in the middle there is the portal flanked by columns.
The interior of the nave is covered with a stitch cap vault, that of the choir with a groin vault. The church furnishings were created around 1720/30. The high altar is flanked on both sides by three columns. Next to him are the statues of St. Nicholas and St. Blaise. On the right in the choir is the epitaph for Albrecht von Wildenstein zu Breitenegg († 1532) and his two wives. The organ was built in 1997 by Mathis Orgelbau.

In the valley of the Wissinger Laber

Highlight (Segment) • River

A beautiful path to cycle along the meandering Wissinger Laber. The path runs idyllically between the river meadows and dry slopes. There is always something new to discover, the Ittelhofen pond, the chapel by the hollow linden tree, various themed boards and all kinds of animals and birds.

Laberschwalle on the White Laber

Highlight • Monument

The Natura 2000 area extends in a band around 40 km long from Neumarkt southwards through the towns of Deining and Holnstein to Dietfurt an der Altmühl and from Wissing to Breitenbrunn. Numerous rivers and ditches flow through the Natura 2000 area. The main bodies of water are the Unterbürger Laber, Weiße Laber, Breitenbrunner Laber and Wissinger Laber. In addition to these main bodies of water, there are a number of smaller ditches and streams in the area.
In addition to the natural highlights, there is also a cultural and historical peculiarity to be found on the White Laber, the so-called Laberschwalle. These structures made of stone pillars, which span the river with up to four pillars, serve as a crossing, but were previously used primarily for irrigation and fertilization. The farmers, who formed a cooperative, were able to use wooden panels to accumulate water and direct it into their meadows in order to enable the floodplain meadows to be mowed a second time in midsummer.
