A very beautiful tour to the Kleiner and Großer Falkenstein. Not suitable for beginners without good physical condition. Walking time: 5 hours.

Demanding, mystical (fog) mountain hike to the Großer Falkenstein with a considerable difference in altitude on partly steep forest or meadow paths and rustic paths in the Bavarian Forest National Park. From the Zwieseler Waldhaus/P Schillerstraße we follow the WW Ameise, cross the Steinbach and turn right at the next fork onto a slightly uphill forest path (WW Goldsteig and …

As the title suggests, today we went to the Great Falkenstein. We started from the Zwieslerwaldhaus hiking car park (equipped with crampons) along the "Eibe" hiking trail to the Kleiner and then to the Grosser Falkenstein. We cheekily "skipped" the summit of the Kleiner Falkenstein. I wasn't entirely comfortable with the scramble up the icy rock with my crampons. From …

Today's tour in the Bavarian Forest National Park began in the town of Zwieslerwaldhaus and brought us to the Großer and Kleiner Falkenstein. The ascent began at 700 m above sea level and after almost 6.5 km we reached the highest point at Gr. Falkenstein at 1315 m.
The medium-difficult ascent leads through the primeval forest of the Mittelsteighütte with …

The climb wasn't too bad 🙈🥾Silbersteig halt 🤷‍♂️.
But fantastically beautiful 🙏,
And the hut on the Falkenstein is really great.
Food and drink top 👍.
Cleanliness top 👌.

If the Höllbachgespreng is closed because of the falcon brood, this tour is highly recommended. At the tree throwing path you can see how long it takes for wood to decompose. The storm low Kyrill was in 2007. The Falkenstein is great, you have a wonderful view. Unfortunately, the shelter was not open.
