Gorkow Village Church and Bell Tower

Highlight • Religious Site

Gorky is a Wendish-Slavic settlement and it is called Gorika in Slavic, which means something like Little Mountain.
In the center of Gorków there is a medieval, towerless fieldstone church, originally with a defensive courtyard wall, in the Baroque style from 1704 with a half-hip roof. The church was built of a mixed wall of field bricks and originally plastered. The church tower burned down in 1822 as a result of a lightning strike and was never rebuilt. The belfry with two iron bells from 1800 freed since then by the Royal Bell Foundry in Berlin was reopened in 2000 after restoration.
The walls of the interior with a flat roof are decorated with illusionistic columns and curtain arches in a pilaster arrangement. Christ is depicted in the center of a painted coffered ceiling from 1704. The entire ceiling was preserved in 2001. The pulpit altar, dating from the beginning of the 18th century, has a pulpit between free-standing columns. The box chairs come from the same period. The functional small organ of Barnim Grüneberg from Szczecin in a three-piece case comes from 1908.

Fangelturm Rothenklempenow

Highlight • Historical Site

The history of the town dates back to the Middle Ages. To this day, you can admire the church from 1738 and the farm, which includes a half-timbered family estate built in 1761 and 19th-century buildings of a distillery, a steam mill, a cowshed, two barns, a stable, a sheepfold and a stable for carriage horses. The farm buildings were built of both stone and baked brick.
Only part of the main tower of the castle (Fangel Tower), the seat of the knightly family von Eickstedt from the 13th century, has survived from the Middle Ages.

Night Watchman Bartel Löcknitz

Highlight • Monument

Here in front of the Löcknitz-Penkun office there is a bronze statue of the former night watchman Bartel, who was on duty here with his cat over 100 years ago. In my opinion, the area around the statues could have been designed a little more beautifully. As it is, they are standing more or less directly at the crossroads!
