View of Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin

Highlight • Viewpoint

Beautiful loch, into which the River Affric flows on it's way to become the River Glass beyond the dam and hydro-electric power station at the bottom of the glen.

Glen Affric Viewpoint

Highlight • Forest

A car park isn't usually a hiker's idea of a Highlight but in this case it's warranted. This is because there are no more public roads west of here, as Glen Affric gets more and more remote. The immediate surroundings are beautiful and it's just a short stroll to a great viewpoint for Glen Affric. There are also toilet facilities here.

View of Glen Affric Lodge

Highlight • Settlement

Glen Affric Lodge was built from pine and granite in the 1860's. It's used by the Glen Affric Estate as exclusive accommodation. You can stay here and be catered for, but as you can probably imagine it's very expensive.

Glen Affric Caledonian Forest

Highlight • Natural Monument

Enjoy biking through one of the most celebrated remaining Caledonia Pine forests in Scotland. You might spot a rare Golden Eagle, or hear the call of the deer when they descend to the valley floor to shelter and find food. The Glen is a National Nature Reserve.

From the viewpoint you can see down to Loch Affric and to the Affric Lodge. A fine view towards the loch and the mountains around you. Plenty of parking at the car park below, and the path is not too steep and not too far.
