Today, a lovely walk took me through the idyllic town of Bad Helmstedt, past the historic Wallburger Warte (Wallburg Lookout). Once part of a medieval warning system, the lookout still stands proudly above the landscape, a reminder of times past when towers like this served to detect enemies early.
