Hofcafé Mühlenbarbek

Highlight • Cafe

The Hofcafé Mühlenbarbek is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a large parking lot and seats with umbrellas in the yard.

In addition to delicious cakes, tarts and various drinks, you can also get the delicious priest's luck here. Fresh from the oven, just as you know it from medieval markets, among other things. I highly recommend stopping here on a bike tour.

Luisenberger Tower

Highlight • Monument

The Luisenberger Turm is a 22 meter high observation tower in Kellinghusen in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein. The tower, designed in neo-Gothic style, was built in 1858 to replace a wooden observation tower. Its name comes from the north-facing house of Count Hans zu Rantzau, who named it after his wife Luise. A staircase with 85 steps leads to the viewing platform, on the parapet of which orientation boards are attached and which provide a good panoramic view. After extensive renovation, the tower has been accessible again since 2009.

St. Cyriacus Church Kellinghusen

Highlight • Religious Site

According to legend, Archbishop Ansgar founded a wooden church or wooden chapel here. In addition to Schenefeld, Nortorf and Jevenstedt, Kellinghusen was one of the four Holstein Urkirchspiele. In 1154 the church was built by monks from the monastery founded by Vicelin in Wippendorf (Neumünster). This is evident from the Stellau church book: In the foundation wall of the tower, Pastor Bielefeld found a stone in 1728, according to which the church was built in 1154 and consecrated to Cyriacus. The church was first mentioned in 1196 and the first priest attested: Johannes de Kelenghusen.
