Brezel Museum Erdmannhausen

Highlight • Monument

The pretzel has long become a symbol of Erdmannhausen, near the Schiller town of Marbach am Neckar. It all started in a small bakery at Badstrasse 8, where Emil Huober specialized in a special quality of pretzels. He tried recipes until he finally managed to redefine his pretzel so that the whole pretzel, like the arms, was the middle of a pretzel. In 1950 Emil Huober founded the "First Württemberg Pretzel Factory, Erdmannhausen" in Riedstrasse. Four years later, it became too small and so the new building was ventured. The large Huober pretzel and the small pretzels were all looped by hand until 1958 special machines were used to shape and punch the pretzels .....
The history of the pretzel is brought to life in the museum. Historical pretzel exhibits are displayed and legends surrounding the riddle of the pretzel are made tangible in a man-sized pretzel. Where does she come from? Is there an up and down? What linguistic variations are there for the pretzel?

In a modern production of its own, the legend is told by the baker Frieder, who was able to save his life by baking a pastry through which the sun shines three times, thus combining the changes in craft and industry and illuminating the tension between industry and agriculture.
