Wild Garlic Along the Braunebach

Highlight • Forest

There are wild garlic everywhere on the Braunebach. Usually right near the course of the stream and sometimes, like here, along the side of the path. Especially good wild garlic pesto with walnuts, olive oil and parmesan cheese, so delicious 😍🌞.

Heischerborn Spring

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Heischerborn was once the water source of the former Altenacker settlement. The word "Born" means well or source. A welcome opportunity to supplement the depleted water supplies.

Hanert Chapel (Chapel of Our Lady)

Highlight • Religious Site

The Hanert Chapel is beautifully situated on the edge of the forest, with a wide view of valleys and heights all around.

The original Pietà (Mary with the body of the son) was artistically crafted from clay. A valuable Pietà later donated, however, was not placed in the chapel but later in the parish church because of the risk of theft or damage. Instead, the chapel received a Madonna made from "Speicherer ceramics". The current Pietà was carved by a Mürlenbach hobby artist a few years ago as a votive offering.
