Murnauer Moos Trailhead (Aschauer Straße Parking Area)

Highlight • Parking

From the hiking car park marked here on Aschauer Straße, you go counter-clockwise along the Lindenbach or Ramsach on a beautiful round (approx. 7 km) over the wooden plank path through the Murnauer Moos with great views of the Blue Land.

Observation hut at Am Lindenbach Pond

Highlight • Mountain Hut

This observation station and refuge is a nice resting place with a view of the lake, which quickly formed here after 2004 after the approx. 80,000 m³ of household waste from the former landfill had been removed.
But the view of the lake is already growing. In any case, it is a nice, clean and quiet place.

Murnauer Moos Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural Monument

Such a great moor in front of an enchanting mountain backdrop with beautiful wooden plank hiking trails surrounded by flowers is a must-hike. My tip: Kneel down on the wooden planks in the moor and look for the carnivorous sun dew plants. It is worth it! But be careful: snappy plant :-)

Murnauer Moos Boardwalk

Highlight • Trail

Moors, wet meadows, unique flora and fauna - the Murnauer Moos is a true pearl of nature. Many animal and plant species threatened with extinction find a refuge in the largest contiguous and still preserved moor in Central Europe. The best way to discover this natural area is to hike through the middle of the Murnauer Moos. Hardly any tour in the Blue Land offers more insights into the nature and history of the moor than the popular Moos circular route.

The approximately 12 kilometer long hike starts at the hiking car park and the biological station, then leads to Ramsachkircherl, also called “Ähndl” and from there the circular route through the moor area starts. A special highlight on the circular hike is the boardwalk. At the junction of the Moosrundweg in Murnau/Westenried you reach it after about one kilometer. You cross the natural moorland on wooden planks and have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. The boardwalk was designed as a so-called moor nature trail and therefore offers even closer insights into the flora and fauna. For an even more intensive insight into the flora and fauna as well as the history of the Murnauer Moos, we recommend the guided moss hikes.

Langer Filz boardwalk in Murnauer Moos

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Pure nature! On wooden planks you can hike through the natural moor landscape with heather and sparse birch and pine stands and enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. Halfway there is an open wooden hut, which also invites you to take a break - guest book available.
